What is Palm Print Recognition?
Palm print recognition looks at ridge patterns, creases, and minutiae in the palm to identify a person. Palms have more surface area and distinctive features than fingerprints, which makes them more effective for noisy captures. Capture can be contact or contactless; image quality depends on lighting, angle, and hand position.
Pipeline: Capture a clean image, then enhance and segment. Extract features and match against a stored template. Presentation‑attack risk (printed or molded palms) is lower than for face, but still present, so use PAD tuned to hands. Store templates with encryption and, if supported by the vendor, cancelable transformation to limit exposure in the event of a breach.
