What is Selfie Verification?
Selfie verification verifies a live capture of the face to the photo on a government ID to prove the applicant is the authorized bearer of that ID. Think of it as liveness to defeat photos and replays, face comparison to the ID chip or image, and quality checks to prevent false positives from blur, glare, or masks.
Rules of the road: get high-quality images, fail quickly on easy spoofs, keep scores and artifacts to allow support and auditors to explain results. Thresholds should vary by risk tier—deposit bonus enrollments should be smooth, payout enrollments should be more rigorous. Privacy is important—keep data needed, and retention reasonable.
