What are Verification benchmarks?
Verification benchmarks are the metrics by which we hold identity and biometric systems to account. They are our translation of messy reality into measurable trade‑offs: False Accept Rate (FAR), False Reject Rate (FRR), Equal Error Rate (EER), Failure to Enroll (FTE), Failure to Acquire (FTA), DET curves that graphically expose where your thresholds bite you.
Useful benchmarks reflect production as closely as possible: realistic lighting, realistic device diversity, spoof attempts, multilingual documents and realistic time lapses between enrollment and test. Lab‑only benchmarks rarely survive real users.
